The HSLG Committee is running a second round in 2025 of the Literature Search Peer Review Buddy Scheme.
What is it?
As you already know the scheme was established in 2023 as a means of informal peer learning on literature searching for library staff and information specialists based in Ireland.
Why should I do it?
The scheme is a way to help librarians conducting literature searches to form connections, encourage networking and to enable expertise sharing between individuals to improve the quality of their searches.
How it works?
This Autumn 2025 round will be similar to Round 1. We are putting out a call to interested librarians and information professionals based in Ireland to register and be paired with another individual.
For this round teams will be asked to arrange an online meeting to discuss search strategies you have both individually developed in PubMed or another similar database in response to a health-related question/request you have worked on.
Timeline
17th Sept. – 1st October
Registration for Round 5 of the Literature Search Peer Review Buddy Scheme Autumn 2025
Register here at https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/RZ70YK/
6th October
Participants are notified of their buddy. A prompt sheet on reviewing a literature search is provided.
6th Oct. – 28th November
Each participant evaluates the search strategy they have been sent. Participants liaise with each other to arrange an online meeting. Meetings can be shorter or longer than an hour, whatever feels right for the searches being discussed.
Prior to the meeting, go through your buddy’s search and consider the questions attached in the discussion prompt sheet. Have your meeting.
Post 28th November
Each team member completes the evaluation form https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/VSTY5Y/by 5pm on Friday 12th December.
This scheme is open to all levels of searching experience.
