The HSLG has initiated a mentoring programme for those working in the library and information sector in Ireland.
About HSLG Mentoring
- The HSLG mentoring programme is coordinated and led by the HSLG committee.
- Potential mentors, or anyone interested in the programme, can attend a free, 2-hour, online training session with Executive Coach and Mentor, Eimear Carney. Three sessions took place in 2024. Please email hslgmentoring@gmail.com to express your interest in booking a place on a session in 2025.
- The mentoring commitment is for just a one-hour session a month for six months with your mentee, either online or in person.
- Mentors will supply a bio which will be uploaded to the mentoring section of the HSLG website
- Mentees can select a potential mentor from the bios on the ‘Request a Mentor’ tab and then click on the yellow button to request a mentor.
- Experienced librarians/library assistants/information specialists are all encouraged to register as mentors.
- A mentoring peer group of all registered mentors will be set up to offer support and encouragement
- You can be both a mentor and a mentee – there is a lot to be gained from both
For more information, see our mentoring programme page.
